The second episode of the live recording of Design CANTEEN at Zlin Design Week festival is here. This time we take a look under the hood of the Best in Design competition, which took place for the fifteenth time this year. We invited the competition judges on stage to evaluate the designs in the categories of Product & Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Service Design and Communication Design. This year, the jury included Büro Famos, Branko Popovic, Matěj Malecha and Janka Csernák. We discussed with the judges the level of the international competition, the quality of the competition designs, what is the entry minimum for the submitted designs and what connects successful designer portfolios. We discussed what such a portfolio can fall short on, what are the unique features of each country and competition design, and the importance of being transparent in presenting your work and willing to show mistakes and lessons learned from the process.
