Back to Piazzolla, Bandoneon & more / interview with Marcelo Nisinman, Alberto Mesirca
04.11.2021
Welcome to another friendly discussion about music. Argentinian bandoneonist Marcelo Nisinman together with Italian guitarist Alberto Mesirca and Dutch violinist Daniel Rowland talk about their relationship with Astor Piazzolla’s music – what is the difference between the way it’s written and the way it sounds. Where does the bandoneon come from, why it was a tabu to play it in Argentina and what was it like to study with Astor Piazzolla in person. Why do we think Piazzolla has lots in common with Monteverdi, Bach, Shostakovich or Chopin and what does it mean for classically trained musicians to play Piazzolla’s Tango. Listen to Marcelo playing his bandoneon amazingly and to lots of laugh and surprises in this friendly talk.
